1. General Visa Information

    A)  As of April 1, 1998, There is a $45 visa-processing fee for U.S. Citizens except for military
         dependents.
         Citizens of the Japan, Thailand, the Republic of China, the Philippines(under 59days),
         United Kingdom(under 6 months), Sweden and Italy do not need to pay any visa processing fee.

         Citizens of all other countries must pay a $30 visa-processing fee.
    B)  If you plan to stay in Korea for more than 90 days, you must get a special long-term visa.
    C)  A tourist may stay in Korea for 30 days without a visa provided that he/she has proof of
          transportation out of the country and sufficient funds for the stay. (Provided that with the
         exception, of some countries)
    D)  Please Note: When filling out the visa application form(For much better printout,

         please type or print neatly. If you need additional applications, please make copies of the form.
    E)  Normally your visa will be available next day you submit all the required documents.
    F)  If you are requesting a visa by mail, be sure to Self Addressed Stamped Envelope marked with

         the proper postage to return you visa(s).
    G)  In regards to work visas, you have the option to obtain a Certificate for Confirmation of Visa
         Issuance.
          : If there is a subsidiary company established in Korea, the president of the company- as long

           as he/she has the necessary documents-can apply for your work permit at the Immigration

           Office and obtain the Certificate for Confirmation of Visa Issuance.

    H)  For other nationalities must submit copy of u.s. permanent green card or valid U.S.A. visa.

 

2. Required documents for Visa Application

     Regardless of visa status, these items must be submitted to obtain a visa.

    A)  Valid passport

    B)  A completed visa application   (ms-word) (pdf)

    C)  A recent photo(2"x2" color)

    D)  Fee( $45 for American Citizen, $30 for other nationals. For more information, please refer to the

         above"1. General Visa Information".)

        (By mail: Money order only, Pay to the order of Korean Consulate General)

     * A diplomatic passport is required.
      However, even a person who desires to do his diplomatic duty
      with a general passport and his family members will be
      included in this category

Official Duty
(A-2

- Temporary duty order or statement of employment or official letter

   (facts he or she is on official duty must be included in the letter)
   * An Official passport or identification card is required.
      However, even a person who desires to do his official duty
      with a general passport or who works for an international
      organization and his family members will be included in this
      category.

Agreement
(A-3)

- Temporary duty order or statement of employment or official letter

   * Identification card is required

Temporary News
Coverage
(C-1)

- Letter of assignment, statement of employment issued by the

   employing company of applicant, or certificate indicating applicant

   is a foreign news reporter.

- Purpose of entry and detale plan of activities.

Short-Term Business
(C-2)

- Document proving the fact that the purpose of his/her visit to
   Korea is on business

Short-Term Visitors
(C-3)

- No documents are required

Short-Term Employment
(C-4)

- Letter of employment contract
- Recommendation of employment issued by the concerned

   Ministry's Minister

   (if performance, permission issued by the Ministry of Culture)

Culture/Art
(D-1)

- Letter of invitation
- Documents proving the fact that it is culture and art organization
   * certificate of expert's career will be required in case that the
      applicant needs his or her instruction
- Curriculum vitae or certificate of career
- Documents proving the applicant's capability to pay his or her

   whole travel expenses during his or her stay
   * A above-mentioned expert means a person who qualifies

      intangible cultural assets or who holds a certificate of

      qualification recognized by government agency

Students
(D-2)

- Certificate of admission letter or certificate of registration issued
   by the president of college or university
- A person who research at an educational/scientific research
   organization
   o substantiating documents for the research
   o Certificate of the last school
   o Letter of personal reference notarized (form 129)

Technical Trainees
(D-3)

- Training schedule prepared by the research organization
- Letter of personal reference notarized (form 129)
- Copy of wage or pay ledger
- Proof of recommendation as foreign industrial/ technical
   research institute or equivalent document qualifying as such
   institute

General Trainees
(D-4)

- Certificate of training or admission of school
- Related documents proving the establishment of educational
   institution or other special institution
- Documents proving capability to burden any necessary costs

Residence Reporters
(D-5)

- Temporary duty order or statement of employment
- Related documents proving the establishment of branch office in

   Korea

Religious Workers

- Temporary mission order
- Copy of a certificate of religious organization or social welfare
   organization establishment
- Documents proving the facts that relevant organization pay the
   applicant's travel expenses

- Temporary duty order or statement of employment
- Copy of a certificate of setting up branch office or liason office
- Documents proving achievement of business fund borrowing or
   copy of business project

    - Persons adopted abroad require a certificate of confirmation or
      statement of adopting parents
      (form 129 not required)
2. Domestic helper of diplomats in Korea require;
    - Official letter issued by foreign embassy or consulate

    - Copy of diplomat's ID
3. Foreign students who enrolled in elimentary/junior/high school
    require;
    - Certificate of school enrollment or school attendance
    - Certificate of adopted person's annual tax-payment
